2001 saw this classic come to life at Dauntsey's. At the hands of the newly appointed Director of Drama, Mr Jackson, the portrayal of gang warfare between youth was not only frightening but also truthful to today's society. The cast of fifty performed with energy and focus, each individual having their part in the plot. The story of Maria and Tony was captivating; they were utterly believable as a couple fighting to spend time together. Animosity between the Jets and the Sharks was tangible and brought an electric atmosphere to the auditorium. Supported by an outstanding orchestra, made up of staff and pupils from Dauntsey's West Side Story was a certainly a great success.
