'The Chairs' by Eugene Ionesco was an ambitious challenge for all involved. Stephen Graney, Isabella Loudon and Jonathan Roberts gave stunning, sharp and exhausting performances creating a startling exploration of absurdity and isolation. With a host of invisible guests the actors had to create a tangible world that was both funny and entertaining but ultimately singed with tragedy. Ionesco's work occupies a hinterland between Beckett and Pinter and is still considered a brave experiment in theatrical form.
