Drama at Dauntsey's

"Honk!"

Book and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe

Date: July 2003

Venue: Memorial Hall

Spring has come to the duck yard. Drake, the Mallard Duck, and his long suffering partner, Ida, await the birth of a new brood, but the clutch seems to contain one inordinately large egg this year. Sure enough, it cracks open to reveal an ugly chick nothing like his siblings, who makes a strange honk sound instead.

Pupils from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years at Dauntsey's performed Honk, the musical of the Ugly Duckling, in another joint venture with the music department.

With talent running deep at all levels in drama and music, this was a perfect platform for up-and-coming pupils to develop and showcase their abilities. Johnny Broad, Jonathan Barnwell, Steve Graney, Poppy Salter, Charlie Atkinson Victoria Turner and the entire cast put on a highly entertaining and sophisticated show that created a fitting climax to the year’s dramatic achievements.
