Drama at Dauntsey's

"Bed"

By Jim Cartwright

Date: 10th - 12th March 2009

Venue: Annabel's Studio

Miss Wilson directorial debut here at Dauntseys was Jim Cartwright’s highly energetic and painfully emotive ‘Bed’. The Longley – Cook family came out in full force, with Flora assisting the direction with maturity and creativity whilst Giles’ rendition of Sermon Head was pure genius.

There were some familiar faces: Kate Powell oozing confidence and finesse as ‘Bosom Lady’, Freddie Green producing comedy rarely seen with ‘Charles’, Flo Corp cutely portraying one half of ‘The couple’, and Sophie Hindley bringing the house down (in tears) with her captivating performance of the childless ‘Marjorie’.

It also saw some surprise performances – George Combe’s characterisation of the eye patch wearing, pirate laughing ‘Captain’ was something to behold. Rebecca Tilley’s performance as the bitter and twisted ‘Spinster’ was frightening and new comer Sam Stephen’s fitted in perfectly to the comical genius of ‘The Couple’.
