Arthur Miller’s tense and moving drama about the unearthing of a guilty family secret played to a packed drama studio for three nights. Mature performances from Dan Ings, Andy McWhirter, Natalie Russel and Rachel Wookey were complemented well by Emilie Seager, Rufus Lawrence, Tom Severn and Hannah Dickinson. revelation.
The action, set in 1940’s America, unfolded in the back yard of the Keller’s family home, which was reproduced in the corner of the studio to create a sense of claustrophobia, dominated by the fallen tree planted as a memorial to their missing son. Subtle lighting and careful pacing of the action helped to enhance the tension as the play moved inexorably towards the final climactic.
