Extra Curricular Activities
Aside from the academic work the drama department offers students a number of extra activities that they can take part in including:
All productions put on outside of classes have open auditions and we encourage students, whether they are long time 'dramarites' or have never acted in their life to come along and try out. Some shows may be targeted towards either Lower School or older students and this will stated on the audition adverts at the time. Auditions tend to be held twice a year for the productions the following term and are always well publicised at the time.
All productions rely on the support of a backstage/creative team and students are warmly invited to take on the roles of Assistant Director, Stage Manager, set builders/painters, costumiers, musicians, video editors...the list goes on. Every production is individual and has it's own needs.
Tech Club is a school club for those interested in everything technical backstage with a strong emphasis on lighting and sound. Through the club students learn how to rig, focus and plot lighting, set up and run sound for small shows, construct sets and engineer props and effects.
The small and highly dedicated team support the various drama productions and exam shows along with school events, lectures, concerts, balls and the Music department's annual Rockfest.
There are a number of dance sessions held throughout the week which are popular amongst students.
